23 Dec Popcorn Christmas

Everyone knows I love popcorn, and at Christmastime it’s not only a delicious and healthful snack… it’s a decoration! Of course, we have to be careful to keep it above dog level. It’s not that popcorn is bad for doggies, but if they can reach it we’re left with just a few bare threads.

Merry Christmas from the Broadcasting Legend™, Cressie and Boudin, and from me!

19 Dec A Free Short Story for Christmas

Merry Christmas! Here is a short story set in the world of The Flower Reader, about a year and a half after the book’s timeline ends. A hint of what might turn up in a sequel? Who knows?

“The Eve of Saint Agnes” first appeared in My Weekly magazine, in their June 30, 2012, issue. My Weekly has kindly given me permission to offer a PDF of the original pages, including their beautiful artwork.

Click the thumbnail above to access the PDF, which can be downloaded or read online. If you don’t have Adobe Reader, you can download it here. It’s free, too.

I hope you all enjoy the story, and I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!

25 Dec A Joyous Christmas to All

Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming
From tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse’s lineage coming
As seers of old have sung.
It came, a blossom bright,
Amid the cold of winter,
When half-spent was the night.

(Photograph of a tiny brave rose bush just outside our front door, blossoming despite our out-of-the-ordinary Christmas morning snow.)
